Data Formatting

🧮How Date Formatting Works in JRNI Insights Hub Exports

When exporting data from the JRNI Insights Hub, the way dates are formatted will vary slightly depending on the export format. This ensures your data is both easy to read and flexible enough to work with in external tools or spreadsheets.

CSV Exports

When exporting dashboards to CSV, dates follow a standardized format:

  • Simple dates: YYYY-MM-DD
  • Full timestamps: YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS

This format is used to maximize compatibility with other tools — making it easier to sort, filter, and import data into third-party systems or databases without display issues.

Why? CSV files are designed for clean data handling, not display formatting.

Excel (XLSX) Exports

When exporting to Excel, the JRNI Insights Hub keeps both visual consistency and data accuracy in mind:

  • Dates are visually formatted to match how they appear in your dashboard (e.g., MM/DD/YYYY)
  • At the same time, Excel retains the full timestamp in the cell’s underlying data

This means when you open the spreadsheet, you’ll see familiar, user-friendly date formats. But if you click into a date cell, Excel may display the full timestamp behind the scenes.

This is expected behavior and gives you the flexibility to work with more precise time data if needed.
